Why You Shouldn’t Use Tiles in a Professional Kitchen?


If you’re running a professional kitchen you want to focus on food preparation. To do that, the food preparation needs to be easy to clean maintain. Traditionally tiles were the best option. But these days firms are turning to hygienic cladding as it’s cheaper and more convenient.

One common problem with tiles is their susceptibility to cracking by being knocked or by people leaning on them. When a tile cracks there’s no real way of repairing it so it takes time, money or both to replace. You can’t leave it, as damp and dirt will get in and create a breeding ground for germs.

The other problem with tiles is grout joints which are difficult to keep clean. It’s recommended you regrout annually which again costs time and money. And as soon as you’ve regrouted, those joins start to gather dirt again and become unhygienic.
